How does it spread?
Currently, the World Health Organization (WHO) is reporting that COVID-19 is quite contagious. Although this type of coronavirus originates from bats, it quickly begins spreading from person to person when someone coughs or exhales moisture onto nearby surfaces, objects or directly onto another person. And then another person touches their face in some manner or inhales the expulsion directly. What is the incubation period?
The U.S.’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) believes at this time that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Latest COVID-19 alerts.
What are the symptoms?
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are:
- Fever
- Fatique
- Dry Cough
- Shortness of breath
Less common symptoms are:
- Aches and pains
- Nasal congestion
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Diarrhea
- Pneumonia
How do I protect myself, friends and family?
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Maintain at least 3 feet (1 meter) between yourself and anyone coughing or sneezing.
- Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, or wash them with soap and water.
- Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the used tissue immediately.
- Stay home if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing; and seek medical attention immediately.
- Stay informed. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority and your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

What is the treatment for COVID-19?
Currently there is no vaccine or antiviral medicine to prevent or treat COVID-2019. Possible vaccines are under investigation. If you suspect you have COVID-19, seek medical treatment immediately to help relieve the symptoms. The good news is most patients recover thanks to supportive care.
As of 3/10/2020, according to the World Health Organization, there had been 113,702 confirmed cases of COVID-19 globally and 4,012 deaths. Of those cases, here is the fatality rate by age:
